Throughout The Harris art gallery and museum, there are artworks that depict women at rest. There are paintings of women picking flowers, a statue of a cherub taking a break, and a sculpture of a woman feeding her child with her eyes closed. You can find women knitting, playing the piano, smoking, reclining. You can see restful landscapes and beaches, and colours that evoke calmness and serenity.
Artist Krissi Musiol designed a restful route around the gallery. At each of the six selected artworks, visitors can find a QR code linking to a text about rest, written by six artist-mothers.
