As part of its UK tour, Feeding Chair will be hosted at The Harris in Preston until 4 April 2027, accompanied by a programme of free creative workshops and events:

Babies and young children welcome. Refreshments provided.
Join performance artist Krissi Musiol for a creative workshop for mothers, parents and carers, exploring where, when and how moments of rest and respite can be found outside the home. Inspired by artworks in The Harris collection, participants will be invited to share their own experiences of rest, helping to create a lullaby for tired mothers and carers.

Motherhood at the Museum

Join researchers Carole Hunt and Marie-Clare Balaam for an interactive workshop exploring motherhood through objects from The Harris collection. Discover the stories behind maternal artefacts and fashion and share your own experiences through a relaxed show-and-tell session celebrating the everyday objects that shape motherhood, past and present.

Join architectural designers Ecaterina Stefanescu and Sam Eadington for a series of 3 practical workshops reimagining Preston city centre as a more welcoming place for people feeding and caring for babies. Through creative mapping, model-making and hands-on construction, participants will test small-scale changes and additions to public spaces outside The Harris. People caring for babies are especially welcome and no previous design or making experience is necessary.
